In the early 1950s Thurston Williams and Forrest A. Hussey had a machine shop in Wilton, NH, that made pumps and auto parts. In 1954 they developed a novel planer-molder and then acquired the O. K. Tool Co. and moved it from Connecticut to Milford, NH. That same year Williams & Hussey Machine Corp. was founded as a a division of O. K. Tool Co., Inc., to manufacture the planer-molder. The name changed slightly to William & Hussey Machine Co., Inc. at some point. They purchased lathe maker J. G. Blount Co. in 1964. Besides making lathes, W&H also manufactured woodworking vises during this era.

In 1988 the company was purchased by Stephen V. Carter, who relocated them back to Wilton, discontinuing the lathes and vises. In 2006 the business relocated to Milford, NH. In 2017 they moved to Amherst:
