Leroy-Somer was a manufacturer of industrial automation components including electric motors, based in Angouleme, France. They had numerous branch operations in various countries, including a Canadian subsidiary that made electric motors sometimes found on Canadian-made woodworking machinery. In 1989, Leroy-Somer was acquired by Emerson Electric Co.
