Dietz, Gang & Co. was founded in 1888 as a partnership between Jacob Dietz and William E. Gang. In 1893 Gang left to form William E. Gang & Co., and he was replaced by a new partner, Ernst A. Schumacher and the firm reorganized as Dietz, Schumacher & Co. In 1896, Frederick W. Boyé was taken in as a third partner and the firm again reorganized as Dietz, Schumacher & Boye.

When Dietz left in 1899 to found Dietz Machine Tool Co., the firm reorganized once again as Schumacher & Boye. In 1912 the firm merged with Schumacher, Boye & Emmes to form Boyé & Emmes Machine Tool Co.
