Between 1985 and 1993, this company made the Shopcraft line for J. C. Penney Co., Inc.. Other companies that manufactured Shopcraft tools and machines included

  • From 1958 until 1985 or a bit earlier, Portable Electric Tools, Inc.
  • Until 1993, Benchmark Tool Co. For part of this time Benchmark was a division of G. W. Murphy Industries, Inc.
  • G. W. Murphy Industries, Inc., which had acquired Benchmark Tool Co., and McGraw-Edison, which had acquired the power-tool division of G. W. Murphy.
  • McGraw-Edison Co., which acquired the power tool division of G. W. Murphy Industries, Inc., in 1972. By 1985 the power tool line had been sold to Deco Enterprises, but it is not known if that company ever manufactured woodworking machinery for J. C. Penney. In any event, Deco Enterprises went out of business by about 2004 and parts are no longer available.

The Shopcraft line was apparently also sold by Hechinger.
