You were interested in the location of the serial numbers, and, while cleaning it and putting it back together, I noticed the number on a second location. The first, most obvious place is on the upper arm, right where the upper wheel support / adjustment assembly bolts to the main casting. The other location is on the bottom side of the table at one of the threaded holes where the fence rail bolts on.
I also thought the paint was factory original. Now I’m not convinced. Under the machine grey is a layer of black, which I understand was the Crescent color for many years. The grey was applied while the saw was apart, so it was either done at the factory, or during a rebuild. The grey is a thick, high solids paint that was applied before the local machinery dealership applied their decal to the center of the upper wheel cover door. The areas with the serial numbers were ground or sanded smooth after the grey paint was applied, not masked off. |
