Found this machine in a work shop that was discovered in the basement of an 1890 office building that had recently changed ownership. I took it apart to get it up the stairs and into my own shop. It's identical to the 20" band saw in the 1932 publication on this website except that the lower guide is a "wright" type, nearly identical to the upper guide. The 1932 spec's call for a plain steel lower guide.
It looks complete except for the lower section of the blade guard which attaches to the upper guide and retracts into the upper wheel housing. Even the fence is there. The belt guard is shop made out of plywood. Nothing was broken, though it needed an overhaul to clean it up and lubricated. The rubber tires haven't hardened and show minimal wear. The motor is a behemoth 1hp Emerson, which i think is vintage to the machine. It still runs great.
There is a sawdust blower attached to the machine with a dc motor that looks like an oversized hair dryer with a 3" exhaust port. It looks like it was added by the local sales distributor when it was delivered - very clean installation. I'm looking for an ac motor to replace it. It's going to take one heck of a mobile base to roll this around my shop.
