This machine bears the serial number 1712. Using Fox's normal serial number sequence, that would seem to indicate it was made before Fox started to make mills. Accordingly, it is suspected Fox used a separate series of serial numbers for their mills.
Some of the tooling that accompanied this machine was marked with numbers showing the caliber of bullets or gauge of shotgun shells. Therefore, it is suspected it may have originally been owned by Harrington & Richardson, where a previous owner had once worked. |
