I was made aware of this bandsaw by the person who had sold me a Tauco saw/ jointer combination about a month previously. He had noticed the bandsaw at a neighbour's house and enquired if it was for sale. It was and knowing of my interest in old machines, contacted me to inform me about it. I drove 100 kms to go and see it. It came as quite a surprise to find a Tauco 14 inch bandsaw in fair shape but with some "additions" namely an 18 inch pulley in the front and two sprocket gears at the back. The owner had bought the bandsaw in this state from a sign writer and really could not tell what the additoional pulleys and gears were in aid of.
The bandsaw was fitted with a huge General Electric Variable Speed 1/2 hp motor. This motor was exceptionally heavy. I decided to purchase the bandsaw. The bandsaw will be totally refurbished and be restored to its original state that is without the "additions".
The motor has been posted on the Photo Index under General Electric Co. Category Other
