Bought from Akron Chair co. Mogadore,Ohio. The gentleman closed up shop June 2008 after 60 years of making living room furniture frames. He remembers his dad buying the jointer used in 1951 or 1952. The man is now 80 and his brother about 75. As you can imagine they could not stay out of the action while we were "dragging and pushing" this machine out of its 55+ plus years work place. The older gentleman did offer some advice: "get the guards fixed up" He had cut off his intire left little finger on this machine.
They only used it for edge jointing so they cut the 16" knives in half and had two sets of 8" knives, used it like this for years. I also asked why in infeed table was so hard to adjust for depth of cut. He told me they never had to move it. A few shots of oil and its working fine. I have to buy and install guards, install and adjust four 16" long sharp knives, clean it up,adjust and put into service. Hope to repaint someday.
