Comments:
I traded this lathe for an old Shopsmith 10ER. I got a good trade! The machine is an oddity in the fact that it has a 36" bed, which was not listed anywhere. The smallest bed listed in the 1912 JG Blount catalog was 44". I have found no other bed information on this machine so I'm basing this on Robert Bernstein's 1912 catalog.
We concluded it must be a manual training lathe, explaining the short bed and large head and tailstocks. Chances this machine was actually used in any kind of a production setting is slim. It looks more like a metal lathe than a wood lathe, but without a threading set up, or a change gear box.
I'm still looking for any information on this machine, and I appreciate the help from all of you on this site.
Nick
