I purchased this Northfield 12" jointer off Ebay in 11-07. It was in Mcdonald PA. It is a 5 hp 3ph direct drive motor with the spring joint attchment on it. I got what I think was a great deal considering I did not have to repaint or repair any parts. I called Jeff at Northfield and he told me this machine was sold through Ornamental tools in Cleveland Oh to a school in Oh. The guy I got it from bought it at an auction. I drove up to pick it up from him and brought it back home in one day. From Va to Pa 4.5 hours one way no big deal. I had a 12" Northfield medium duty jointer from 1954 that was redone. I thought I had a machine for life but... I saw this on Ebay, so I called Jeff at Northfield and asked him the difference between the heavy and the medium jointers and he replied there was no comparison. So I had no choice to find out for my self what he was talking about. He was right! This is a monster! I build a stand to move it around me little shop where it has a great home.
