bought this machine in tucson, az around 1984. babbit bearings had been replaced with roller bearings, yet one of the bearing caps had been lost before i got this...machinist friend made a new cap. original cast iron fence carriage had warped and was going to have the hand screw slots widened to accommodate larger threaded studs ( old tapped holes in the bed were stripped ), carriage....along with my truck that was carrying it to the machinists....got stolen and would up in mexico ! truck was impounded in the "nice" little border town of agua prieta, yet i was unable to retrieve the carriage under ANY circumstances ($$$) from the federales ! bastards ! wound up making a "new" carriage for the fence from 3/8" plate a few years later working as a machinist/welder. it sits in "storage" in orange county....little room in a cramped shop for a small aircraft carrier !
as far as i know, i have yet to see anything OTHER than various types of saws with JONES SUPERIOR name connected to it. both in-feed and out-feed tables independently move up and down from the large hand-screws on either end, AND both tables slide in and out on dove-tailed ways. 2 blade cutter-head can also be removed from it's carriage, adjusted for independent side-to-side tilt for alignment with the tables, and also skewed front-to-back to give a slightly angled shaving cut. very sweet options when dealing with figured or birds-eyed lumber.
