Being a true Minnesota boy, born and raised" up der in da cold". I decided to go see mom for mothers day last week. And it just so happens that the Northfield Factory was only 45minutes from moms place. And by the way I needed to get new tires for my 36" bandsaw and have them ground and balanced, so it was a tough descision should iI go or no?. Well you guessed it I went down der after a great time with mom and sis.
Arrived at the Factory at the opening bell 7.00am and met Jim V. who has been at the factory for 43 years and will be retiring in july. He took me into his department and showed me the tire grinding machine that northfield uses to grind and dress new or old tires.
Had a great time with Jim and was sad to see him leaving northfield after so many years, but he can now enjoy walleye fishing. He showed me a new 27"bandsaw he just finished and had crated, it was a beauty. He is standing by a new 20" showing just the casting without any parts that he was begining to work on that day. In the background is a 36" he was also working on.
I have included a photo of the front of the main building for your enjoyment also. Thanks to Jim for such a great visit and to Jeff the owner for letting me tour the factory, The last time I visited the Factory I was a freshman in college, it was great to see them still in business and they are really the only true American ARN Woodworking machinery Factory left making new machines like they have since the 1920"s.Keep them in business by supporting and buying from them.
