Here was a nice Northfield 20 inch bandsaw for sale near me! Its size is a perfect combination of footprint and capacity. Resaw is 12-1/2inches, thanks to a modification by a previous owner. In found condition the saw was baby blue, not my favorite color on an old bandsaw. It needed bearings, tires and new electricals. That and lot of elbow grease. Now its like new.
It is a wonderful saw, very stout for a 20 inch, and resaws beautifully. Powered by a handsome old 3 phase motor made by Sterling(L.A.). 3hp and heavy. WAG weight is about 90lbs.
One neat thing was the aluminum wheels showed the wood grain from the original patterns, made by some other woodworkers during another era.
The saw was originally ordered in 1956 by Machinery Equipment & Supply Co., a machinery dealer located in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. The saw was delivered without motor or electricals, an option available from Northfield.
