Here is my latest restoration, a 1947 Northfield 32 band saw. It was acquired from Kirk Gilson who is a member of OWWM. I picked it up in 2 seperate trips to his house in Carlsbad, CA. The first trip was to remove and take everything off of the frame of the saw and the second trip was to haul the frame itself. In both these instances, Jeff Morris who is also an OWWM member and good friend, helped with the disassembly and loading of the saw.

I left the tires with another OWWM friend Dave Cavner, who took the wheels up to a shop in Los Angeles to have tires put on, crowned and balanced. I picked the wheels up from him on my next trip down to LA.

This restoration took approximately 3 months minus a week in each month for my travel to LA for my job.

This saw sports 2 new bearings in the motor, 2 new self aligning bearings for the upper axle, new tires, a new plastic covered cable for the counter-weight, 2 new Northfield labels and 6 new blade guide bearings for the Paddock guides ouch $47.00 a piece!!!!

The two tone color scheme was chosen to accentuate the cast iron parts that I think are neat looking on this style Northfield band saw. The darker grey was Rustoleums Dark Smokey Gray Gloss and the light color was Kelly-Moores Kel-Guard Steel which was chosen from a paint chip book lighter than I thought but turned out OK.

Jeff from Northfield Foundry & Machine Co. has been MORE than helpful in supplying information, warning stickers, Northfield Labels and the Paddock guide Bearings.

Per Jeff, sold and shipped to EBY Machinery in 1947. No information until 1969, when Lloyd Gondor Mfg. in Richmond, CA owned it. Kirk Gilson was the owner in Aug 2005 and I believe Kirk got it from Reliable Tools in Irwindale, CA. I then traded Kirk for it about a year after Kirk acquired it.
