I saw this drill press for sale online, but it was about 7 hours away from me in Ottawa, Ontario. I didn't know much about it, but I was intrigued by the large table and the rack and pinion gears to raise and lower the head... and it was only $50. I was planning a trip to Ottawa, but not for a month or more, so I reached out to member of the Canadian Woodworking Forums who lived up there and he generously offered to pick it up and store it until I was able to retrieve it.
During disassembly I discovered the Jacob's taper on the spindle and the chuck were both damaged. Luckily, I was able to find another No. 15 floor model drill locally with a good spindle and chuck. It also had a nice feed handle with the original wooden knobs, as well as the original motor pulley. So I replaced those parts, as well as the motor, and now the drill press is working quite well.
