Bought this at a consignment auction for not much more than the minimum bid. It looked like junk, but it also looked like an R-I motor, and I figured at worst it might make a good learning experience. Had a devil of a time opening it up - the silver paint was slathered on pretty thick - but when I did, my reward was an unexpected flash of brass. With all the brass this motor has, it must have been made before 1941. Rotation is clockwise only (viewed from the pulley end), it's not reversible. Runs smoothly and quietly.
