I purchased this little guy via auction in January of 2024.

Thanks to more knowledgeable collectors who were willing to educate a new face I’ve learned the following:

Only the .5 and .75 kw sizes were built with the brass base.
The .75 kw size is considered significantly rarer than the .5kw
The brushes automatically feed as they wear to maintain contact with the armature.
This particular size and style was only made in Canada from 1892-1894.
