This press seems unusual, or at least hard to research as I haven't seen another, or a catalog listing for one yet.
Pretty self explanatory screw press with a ratcheting mechanism that allows tremendous pressure one click at a time with an over center type leverage (like vice grip pliers).
Also on one side is a small arbor press.
I bought this from an older fellow who restored Model A ford cars and had collected it somewhere decades prior and made good use of it in the meantime.
Oddly enough I went to visit this fellow to look at a camelback drill press and I end up coming home with a Canedy-Otto screw press instead. (a friend got the drill press, not Canedy-Otto brand)
It seems quite original, possibly even the wood planks it's bolted to.
I disassembled and cleaned the screw mechanism and regressed it. There is a large built in thrust bearing, the screw does not turn.
Missing a knob on the ratchet paw, I'd like to see another and make a copy. Fully functional without it however.
Not sure the tonnage but plenty so far for what I've done with it.
Initially I was looking for a hydraulic press for the shop but when this came along I couldn't pass it up. Not so sure I need a hydraulic press at this point, the screw press is strong, very good feel for what's going on, and it is slow in ratchet mode but that's OK.
