Purchased this Breuer Tornado blower in November of 2019 for my Delta 6x48 sander. It arrived with a DS21 (Disc sander) adapter that I sold to help recoup some of the cost of the blower. Unfortunately the seller provided no history of the unit. It also came with another adapter attached which I have no clue about. It's very hard to date this unit as there I haven't seen too many like it, but my guess is the late 30's to early 40's.
After it arrived I tested it and ran fine, but the bearings sounded dry, so I knew it would need a complete rebuild. That included a thorough cleaning, commutator turning, new bearings & brushes, etc. finished off with 3 stages of buffing and then Nyalic's clear coat. Unfortunately there was one spot that wouldn't buff out, but I'm happy with the way it turned out either way. Since most of the exterior's wiring was rotted and no power switch on the unit itself I increased the length by plugging it into an extension cord with a switch on it. The thread of my complete rebuild can be found here. https://owwm.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=209745
Typical of most Breuer units it's extremely loud with hearing protection a must. Otherwise from such a tiny unit it's incredibly powerful.
Collection bags are hard to find or extremely expensive, so I'm still experimenting with that side. If anyone reading this knows where I can acquire an OEM bag or great alternative that's not branded with another manufacturer's name please contact me.
