Comments:
I am hoping to restore it for the local mining museum where I volunteer. Note that it still has the flat belt drive, with most of a clutch mechanism. Also has an unusual (to me) setup for raising the quill - see the sprocket and 'bicycle chain' - I suppose there should be a weight or spring on the chain? Those parts are simply clamped onto the framework, so perhaps a 'custom job'? I plan to mount it on a wood base, and power it with an electric motor and V-belt via the 7/8" shaft at the bottom.
Update: Added a picture below of the 'restoration'. Had to get creative in a couple of spots, such as using a large square nut as a 'belt-tensioner weight'.
