This is my favorite machine. I bought it from a defunct sawmill in Sioux Center Iowa in 1999 for $250.00.
It was a Dad is dead sale and I was first to call on the jointer. Other machines did not sell as cheaply, I don't know why this was priced so low. For those that have not dealt with Northfield they still provide excellent support. I called to order a blade guard for mine, which cost more than I paid for the machine, and they told me the age of my jointer and that it sold for $455.00 new. They also sent me an original factory booklet with my machines serial number inscribed along with a packet of no less than 10 safety stickers depicting bloody severed fingers etc. This was the first big machine I moved as well. Being inexperienced I chose my 63 Dodge pickup box trailer with old bias tires to haul it. The height of the trailer and weight of the machine along with squirrelly bias ply tires made for a less than relaxing trip.
