This post drill was in operation at the village blacksmith in Mt. Carmel, ND. The shop was operated by a Mr. John Girodot and later by his son Frank Girodot. I don't know if Mr. Girodot purchased the drill new. John passed away in 1933 and his son operated the shop for a few more years. My father William Schill purchased at auction the post drill and several other smithing tools of Mr. Girodot some time in the late 1930's. This post drill and the other tools have been in our family's possession since.
