As far as I can tell, this was the first accessory ever designed and sold specifically for a RAS. It was manufactured by Red Star in 1945 for one year only and fit it’s 40A and 30A models—attaches to the square/flat side of the motor. After Red Star’s acquisition, Delta continued to sell surplus models under the Red Star label in 1946, but did not continue manufacture. Made of solid cast aluminum, the drill can reach speeds of 10000 rpm by changing pulley size. I purchased this at auction for $35, removed rust and repainted safety green to match my Red Star 30A. It was missing the mounting plate and pulley cover so I manufactured copies out of oak and plywood.. A very rare and cool piece of history!
