I got a pair of these at an auction 15 years ago. Very solidly made. From the green paint and the other stuff being sold at the auction, I'd say this came out of a school, which is consistent with Sheldon being a school lab bench supplier. Based on casting numbers and some online research, this was made for Sheldon by Wilton.
The castings are definitely thicker than a 7” vise you could buy today, and the guide rods and screw are 7/8” versus the 3/4 or less on modern vises this size. It does not rack at all when gripping an offcenter workpiece. It has a half-nut design for quick open/close.
