This unit was purchased at a used tool store in Fairport, NY. The paint appears to be original. The cord was replaced prior to purchase. The drill was partially disassembled, cleaned, and repaired as necessary. Here's some information for others. The two knurled cylinders on the motor are spring loaded felt oilers. I'm not sure how they were supposed to be oiled. Mine were filled with old grease. There are oiling holes opposite the oilers that pass oil to the bearings. The thrust bearing adjustment is on the top of the motor. It is a set screw against a ball that sits in the center hole used for manufacturing the shaft. I set mine for .005 end play. Three of the four motor mounting screws were stripped out and repaired with threaded plates inside the motor between the shell and the armature. At the top the shaft measured .2500, and the bearing .2503. The brushes are round, and over 1/2" long carbons. The bearings appear to be held in by four screws, but I did not disturb them. The shaft and chuck exterior showed about .0015 runout, but anything in the chuck had .010 or more. The #0 Jacobs chuck is mounted on a small taper. I removed it by making an aluminum clamp that would grab the shaft between the motor and the chuck, and twisting the chuck with an allen wrench in the jaws. There are no surfaces for chuck removal wedges to rest upon. A NOS chuck gave .0015 runout in the chuck jaws. I do not believe the table return spring and adjusting knobs are original.
