This drill was donated to the theater company that I work with. We knew nothing about its manufacture until I saw a recent Craigslist ad for a similar machine (see my other recent photo entry).

The drill has two interesting features: a quill stroke of 6" and a secondary (and internal) on/off switch that requires you to insert the handle of the chuck key into the side of the drill in order to power it on. With respect to this latter feature I can only say that it must not be a safety feature so much as a clever means of forcing the operator not to misplace the chuck key!

This (as well as my other entry) appear to be relatively late models of the ShopMaster line. I have not seen any dirty paper for them, either. My guess is that these are from the 1970's.

The drive belt is a Gates Polyflex narrow v-belt no. 5M1000

The machine performs well for the light duty drilling that we use it for.
