I bought this outside of Madison, WI back in the early 1990's at an auction. It is actually a wood and metal lathe. I was inspired by a visit to the American Precision Museum in Windsor, VT in the late 1980's that really old machinery was cool. The color inspiration came from their collection. The headstock bushings were shot and I was able to make a jig to re-line them, so they are as good as new. There was only a dead center but from that I was able to measure the taper and make up a live center, a dead center, and an adapter to hold the Jacobs chuck. I did not find the taper specs listed anywhere. Somebody somewhere along the way converted it to the v-belt. It does not look like it ever got rusty and is in fairly decent shape. The whole thing weighs less than 100 lbs. I don't really know if 5 is the serial number. The lathe has 5 stamped in all the parts, perhaps more of a way to keep track of all the parts that were fitted together.
