Purchased through Craigslist in Southern Indiana. Information from Hendeyman follows:
According to the production records, your lathe was one of the very last lathes built by Hendey, only eight other lathes were built before production stopped. The last forty lathes were to have been built October 1954, which seems a bit odd when you
consider that all of the factory equipment was sold at auction during mid-October. The Serial Number Card for your lathe was misfiled by Mr. McCune, the owner of Aable
Machine Tool, along with about 1500 other cards. A search of the Motor Books, which tells what electrical equipment was fit to each lathe, wasn't any help because they stopped
listing the motors after serial number 38916, probably because the end of production was near.
