Sears Craftsman ½ hp repulsion start - induction run electric motor, built by Leland Electric Co.
Oilite bearings, 1725 rpm, 8.2/4.1 amp, 115/230 volt, 60Hz, single 5/8" diameter x 1¾" shaft with 3/16" key.
Original black paint.
Missing original thrust bearing/plate at shaft end and wiring junction box.
Leland Electric patent numbers stamped on brush plate: 1464911, 1680795, 1698799, 1756692
Since the label does not have the usual Sears Craftsman data, I'm guessing the motor was built during the WWII timeframe, when consumer products were scarce.
>>HISTORY<<
October 2016:
Purchased from a fellow OWWMer in WI and another OWWMer Ruckered it to me at ArnFest 2016.
A previous owner rigged a pointed screw held by a jam nut to control shaft thrust.
April 2017:
Fabricated steel thrust bearing plate with hardened socket head adjustment screw, jam nut, and 3/16" diameter chrome steel ball located in the shaft center drill hole.
I only plan on using this motor in horizontal orientation only (possibly a 6" grinder or 12" band saw).
Motor runs smooth and quiet in both directions.
