This machine is property of James Carruthers, who recently purchased it from a now-defunct blacksmith shop.

The size and age of the saw are both estimates. The casting style would tend to date it even earlier, but the maker was not founded until 1875, and the presence of blade guards tends to date it later.

The label (not shown here) reads as follows:

James says of the saw, "This saw is in remarkable condition. The table runs real true and accurate, and I think it would make a real accurate cut if I had a blade for it and had it belted up."
