A trip to my favorite used machinery dealer, Tom Cook, Sicklerville, NJ, turned up a nice oilstone grinder that had formerly resided in Glassboro College's Industrial Arts labs. The grinder was immaculate.... probably covered with a drop cloth for most of its life to keep the stones from being contaminated with airbourne dust. This is the middle model of Mummert-Dixon's three Plurality Oilstone Grinders. The #475 sits at the top, the #425 Plurality Sub-Junior is at the bottom, and the #450 Junior fits snuggly between.

This unit has two 8" Diameter X 2" Wide oilstones... one coarse/one fine, a 2" Diameter x 4" long Grinding Cone, and an 8" Diameter x 1/2" face Grinding Wheel. These are powered by a 1/4 horse, single phase Howell Electric motor. The grinding wheels receive a supply of kerosene to cool and lubricate the cutting surface from two wells in the center of the machine. These wheels spin at 300 RPM, while the cone and regular grinding wheel spin at 1800 rpm.

Mummert-Dixon at some point in time merged with CAM Industries, and has since disappeared. CAM Industries has an advertised web site, but it is no longer operational at the time of this writing
