Through some *insider trading*-type informants, a buddy of mine and I were told of an old boatshop/marina in Atlantic City that was to be demolished and repopulated with houses. Settlement on the property was made and three of us were invited in to remove any of the contents. Day 1 was a Friday night.... one of the rainiest I can remember... and the building was wetter inside than out. We removed a few of the smaller prizes that evening and planned to make return trip to collect some more in the coming weeks. Two of us returned at 8 a.m. the next Sunday morning and drug the bandsaw to the threshold of the door using my truck, a strap, and low-range 4WD. From there a hand winch pulled her onto the trailer's ramp and onto the trailer. By 10 a.m. the saw was loaded and strapped into place.

A phone call to Northfield revealed that this saw left the factory in 1952 and was purchased by the AC Boat & Engine Company in Atlantic City, NJ.... perhaps the same site I retrieved the saw from. The saw features SKF ball bearings (according to the decal on the back of the machine) and spoked iron wheels- about 2" wide. The guides on it are Progress guides and many parts are still available from Northfield's nifty web site:

One of the hinge pins/bolts on the lower barn doors is missing, the table tilt handscrew bracket has been rewelded at some point in the past, and new tires are needed. The only other drawback is the expected rust/oxidation that one might expect from a machine kept in a salt-air climate. The saw will need to live in the rear of my tractor garage for a few months, as other projects have priority.
