This machine belongs to Hannes Mentz who acquired it as a gift from some friends. The machine has been stored away for many years not being used and eventually was offered to him. The bandsaw apparently is very old and badged as a Tauco which indicates it was exported from the USA to South Africa. As is normal with Tauco machines,no serial number tags are attached so date of manufacture is an estimate.
Hannes intends having the machine refurbished. A very rare example of a 10 inch bandsaw and taking its age into consideration appears to be complete bar the motor. There is conjecture as to whether the red colour is original or not. From what was observed there was no evidence of grey under coat at all. The bandsaw is presently located in Howick, a town in the Midlands of kwaZulu Natal South Africa.
