Comments:
XJ was the top-of-the-line Model variety saw for Tannewitz. As far as I know the XJSW was the largest saw available from them with a single arbor. XJ is the Model designation, S designates 'sliding', and W for wide table extention. This can be determined by the heavy supports, welded tubular on U & XJ, cast on the J models.
This saw was purchased in a lot from a furniture factory in North Carolina for $50. Originally a 550 volt machine w/ Cutler Hammer starter, motor was rewound 220/440 three phase and new Furnas magnetic starter added to make operational.
some Specs:
Motor: 7.5 HP, 220/440v 3 phase, S.A. Woods Machine Co.
Arbor: interchangable
Overall dimensions: 72 x 44.5 x 35
Saw was missing some of the accesories, but included an arbor brake and handle bracket for sliding table. Currently equipped with a Biesmeyer fence system as the original was long gone. Some of the 'sliding' models did not come with a rack & pinion fence.
