I purchased this machine from an individual in Texas who used to build cabinets. He said he had used it for many years and then his son used it for many years. It is in working order with just a little surface rust. It had no guards on either side; the owner showed my the remaining half of his little finger which was a result of the "no guards" (ouch!). One of the reasons I purchased this machine is the ability to still purchase parts. My plan is to restore it completely and either construct or purchase the guards.
Northfield gave me this information:
-This jointer left our plant on 07/22/1949. It shipped to the Hopkins County Schools in Sulpher Springs,TX. We have not heard from it since 1949.
-It was ordered as a motor base at side, no electrics machine. This means that it had no motor, belts, pulleys, belt guard, motor starter or wiring when it left our plant in 1949. That equipment was then installed by the distributor : Machinery Sales-Dallas or the customer.
