This saw was the bonus prize in the "Great USGS Heist of 2003". I had no idea it was included in the lot when I bid. (See forum post #39329 for details.) It was/is Tannewitz's top of the line band saw (still offered today new at over $15,000). The machine is huge -- nearly 9' tall and 2,900 lbs. An outstanding feature of this saw is the electronically-actuated braking system. Both wheels have automotive-style drum brakes powered by a hydraulic master cylinder. The system is actuated when the saw is powered down AND when a sensor determines that the blade has broken!
