I purchased this Porter from a Gentleman in Wis. I managed to drag it upstairs to my garage loft workshop.
The jointer is powered by a 3hp 3ph American Motor. The head is a three knife safety head with modern gibs.
I striped it down and painted it, the babbit bearings leaked oil and ran hot. So I adjusted the shims, scraped the bearings and replaced the felt. Now the bearing run cool and smooth with no leakage. The cuts are glass smooth.
I built a head guard but have no pictures yet.
The fence has a void in the casting on the upper left hand corner, it gives the machine more character.
