This machine was purchased in February of 2004 from a machine shop in Collinsville, Oklahoma, that was closing it's doors and liquidating tooling. The owner of the shop (second owner) indicated that this was one of three machines that the original shop owner started with in 1930. The shop is near Wichita Kansas, and I was told they did a lot of subcontract work on aircraft parts during WWII. The machine was purcased in an ebay transaction and shipped to Cincinnati. I am not sure the spoked wheel is original since it is a casting that has the words "open" cast in it with an arrow. Other than that, I think the rest is original. It is powered by a 1/2 hp 110 volt GE motor that is huge and very heavy by today's standards. The press has two tables. One is on a dovetail column and is round. The second is a rectangular table that clamps to and swivels around the column. This swiveling table can also be tilted left or right 90 degrees either way. The machine has six speeds from 350rpm to 2500rpm. The #2 Morse taper spindle is very tight and the machine is in excellent condition. Between the dovetail column on the round table, and the dovetail column the quill is mounted to, this machine has all kinds of travel in the vertical direction which makes it very easy to change tooling without losing your spindle location over the hole. The machine is about 7 ft. tall and weighs about 500 lbs. It is a very stable drilling platform that is a joy to use.
