This machine was aquired with 3 others as a package deal from a man in Ridgway, CO. All these machines were purchased new by Elk Mountain Millworks, a Colorado Company. From what I learned, these machines were bought new in 2001, and Elk Mountain Millworks went out of business in 2003. The person I bought them from used them for one job, then stored them in his heated garage wood shop where they sat until I bought them this past October. These machines are in incredible condition, with barely a scratch on them. In fact, this shaper has an hour meter on it, and when I got it it read only 21 hrs.
This machine included many factory options, something that is a rarity in most OWWM's. Machine has a 1-1/4" diameter spindle, 6-1/2" under the nut, 6-1/2" throat opening, nested throatplates, dovetail miter gage, 3 roll stock feeder, shaper fence with micrometer adjustment, dusthood with hold down, 10hp motor, reversing drum switch, electronic spindle elevation readout, foot brake, and of all things a spare 1-1/4" spindle. Also included a very nice Weinig molding head with knives for finger joints. I have not had the time to get this machine off the shipping crate yet, but it runs very nicely, with plenty of power.
