The owner - Larry S. of Clarence, NY, refers to it as a "tongue and groover". This ol' boy is on hard times and resting on his lid. I didn't have time to turn it over and get any better shots of it. Perhaps later. "Luther's Patent Oct 15 Dec 31 1889" "B.G.Luther & Company Worcester, Mass. U.S.A."
