This is perhaps the oldest known American-made bandsaw. It turned up in 2009 and was ultimately purchased by one of our members. The writing on it says, "EYSTER & STOUFFER / Proprietors / & / Manufacturers / Chambersburg, Pa., / SULLENBERGER'S / Patent Mar. 19th / 1861". That patent is notable for being the very earliest patent for a ship's bandsaw, i.e., a tilting blade bandsaw. This saw, however, is not a ship's saw.

The saw is pretty much original except for the table itself, which had been replaced with a piece of plywood at some point. The original would likely have been a glue-up of hardwood strips or narrow boards.
