Previous history is unknown. I bought it from someone who got it from friends that had moved out of state. Where they got it from is not known. The bed s 6' and the 40" length between centers can be extended slightly by over-hanging the tailstock while maintaining the clamp fully on the bed. I haven't run it yet, but it cleaned up pretty nicely. The Patent date of July 30, 1901 is for #679568 by Edward A. Muller, assigned to Springfield Machine Tool Company. It is for the change gear arrangement. An interesting feature is a reversing lever on the apron. The back gear reduction is 10 to 1.
