I went to see this press from CL without the benefit of a photo. It had clearly undergone modifications common to the Burke presses surviving into the 1930s and beyond. As I looked it over the early cast-iron core and Yankee-thrift "updating" reeled me in. Power plant is a 1/4 hp RI motor made by Leland Electric of Dayton, Ohio (active 1926-51 according to the OWWM database). Notice the old leather-belt spindle pulley under the v-belt one. The machine reminds me of a futuristic water pump on Mars...dreamed up by someone in 1910.
