Recently, I inherited a Royal Drill Press, manufactured by the Canedy-Otto Manufacturing Co. I remember using the drill press as I grew up and it was always one of Dad's favorite tools. I also, in going over old photographs, found a picture of Dad, taken in the 30s, transporting the press to his shop.

When I got the press home, it was in very good condition. I know that it had not been used in over 20 years but when I hooked it up, it ran just like I remember. Unfortunately, I have no paperwork or other information on the machine other than my memory and pictures that Dad bought it back in the thirties.

The only item missing from the press was one of the handles with the knob. The knobs wear the "Daka-Ware" name which as I understand, was a brand name that was used by the Davies Molding Company back in the 30s. I contacted The Davies Company and was able to come up with an exact replacement.

While there is still a bit of rust on the press, it is slowly disappearing. It is now fully functional and a valued member of the shop.
