Herman C. Doman

Founded as the Union Iron Works, the firm reorganized in 1902 as the H. C. Doman Co. The firm advertised as "The largest engine and launch builders in the West."

This firm originally made a Dowel Setting Machine, which they subsequently sold the rights to C. G. Dauber Machine Co. in 1907. The company then concentrated on the manufacture of marine gas engines and launches. Later they manufactured gas engines for farm tractors.

Mr. Doman retired in 1911 and the firm was bought in 1920, by the Universal Products Co. of Sandusky, OH.
