The Nye Co. apparently succeeded the short-lived Jones Safety Device Co.'s Buffalo office. The Nye Co. was assigned a 1913 tablesaw blade-guard patent that was granted to James Melvin Jones of Hamilton, Ontario, who was the principal of the Hamilton-based Jones Safety Device Co. We have a confirmed sighting of a guard labeled with the Nye name.

In 1913 the Lockhart-Hodge Co. was incorporated to take over the Nye Co. and its production of Jones safety guards.
