In 1869 G. W. & F. Smith, a partnership of George W. Smith and Franklin Smith, was manufacturing the Talpey's patent self-feeding table saw. This saw was also manufactured Hoag & Hampson and Wm. H. Hoag & Bro. We do not yet know the connections between these firms, or the timeline of when each firm was manufacturing the Talpey's patent saw.

  • 1869 Massachusetts Charitable Mechanics' Association, Official Catalogue has an ad from this firm. The ad misspells Talpey' name: "Tapley's patent self-feeding hand-sawing machines..."
  • Dexter Talpey Spiller reports a saw labeled, "Talpey's Patent, Self-Feeding Sawing Machine, Manufactured and sold by C.W. & F. Smith [sic], 400 Federal St. Boston, Massachusetts, patented July 1,1862."
  • Joseph A. Talpey of Somerville, MA, was granted several patents.
