Founded in 1889 by Wendell P. Norton to make lathes and drill presses. Reorganized in 1890 and moved to Plainville as the Norton & Jones Machine Tool Works. The business survived until at least 1906.

Wendell P. Norton was granted 1892 through 1897 lathe patents that were used by Hendey Machine Co. Perhaps Norton & Jones got out of the lathe business and the patents, or even the complete lathe designs—were sold to Hendey.

From 1892-02-04 American Machinist
