A subsidiary of Emerson Electric Co. since 1966, Ridge Tool Co. is best known for the Ridgid brand tools. Ridge was originally a manufacturer of pipe tools and threading machines, and we have a report of a 1950s-era Ridgid chop saw. In 1964, Ridge bought the vise division of Desmond-Stephan Manufacturing Co. Ridge also took over Supreme Products, Inc., manufacturer of drill chucks and the Versamatic speed-reducing chuck.
